SwimCount™ Harvester 1mL Sperm Purification device for IVF & ICSI procedures
SwimCount™ Harvester 1mL Sperm Purification device for IVF & ICSI procedures
Advance Your ART Outcomes with Microfluidic Sperm Selection
The SwimCount™ Harvester 1 mL device is an advanced sperm purification device specifically designed for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) treatments. Utilising MotilityCount ApS’ patented membrane technology, this device provides a precise and safe solution for sperm preparation, mimicking the natural selection of the best Progressive Motile Sperm Cells (PMSCs).
Why Choose the SwimCount™ Harvester 1 mL?
The microfluidic selection methodology of the SwimCount™ Harvester reduces manipulation steps to the lowest level possible, decreasing the risk of human error, saving time, and minimizing the amount of cultivation media needed.
Unmatched Sperm Quality and Integrity
The PMSCs recovered by the Harvester show significant improvements in sperm quality parameters compared to conventional methods.
| Sperm Parameter Improvement | SwimCount™ Harvester vs. Density Gradient Centrifugation (DGC) (N=111) |
SwimCount™ Harvester vs. Swim-up(N=100, finalised study) |
| Total PMSCs (Millions) | Improved by 72% | Significantly Higher |
| DNA Fragmentation (%) | Reduced by 64% | Significantly Higher |
| Morphology (%) | Improved by 19% | Significantly Higher Normal Morphology |
| Live Sperm (%) | Improved by 11% | Not significantly different |
| Chromatin Stability | Improved by 3% | Significantly Improved |
Superior Embryo Outcomes
Clinical studies performed by IVIRMA Global, Valencia, Spain demonstrate that improved sperm quality translates into better embryonic development:
- Usable Blastocyst Rate: Significantly higher in the SwimCount™ Harvester group (40.54%) compared to the Swim-up group (34.50%) (N=100 patients).
- Good-Quality Blastocyst Rate (Grade A + B): Significantly higher in the Harvester group (30.78%) compared to Swim-up (23.39%).
- Faster Development: The time to blastocyst formation (tB) was statistically significantly shorter for the SwimCount™ Harvester group (Median 106.95 hours) than for the Swim-up group (Median 109.46 hours).
- High DNA Fragmentation Cases: In patients with sperm DNA fragmentation levels above 20%, the Harvester significantly improved both the usable blastocyst rate and embryo quality per mature oocyte.
Streamlined, Safe, and User-Friendly Operation
The SwimCount™ Harvester is designed for ease of use, ensuring an efficient workflow:
- Closed System: The device operates as a closed system, minimizing the risk of contamination, evaporation of Sperm Preparation Media, and accidental spillage when compared to open systems.
- Minimal Handling: The SwimCount™ Harvester method requires only 4 total steps and approximately 3 minutes of total hands-on time, resulting in a substantially reduced operational risk factor compared to Density Gradient Centrifugation (DGC).
- Simple Incubation: Incubate the device for 30 minutes at 37°C (or 98.6°F).
- Optimised Loading: The 1 mL version is optimized for handling up to 1 mL of semen and requires only 0.8 mL of Sperm Preparation Medium, as the surface area is the same as the 3 mL device.
