The SAMi CASA system offers substantial advantages over the manual semen assessment, i.e., faster times to perform analysis (especially in sperm motility and sperm concentration measurements), automatic data capture, and relatively short training for the technicians. When the system is validated for human semen analysis, current CASA systems provide important information for quality control in the IVF laboratory and in the comprehension of the diversity of sperm responses to changes in their environment.
